Andrey Shibko was born on 8 March 1975 in Minsk. He received his first musical instruction at the Music School for Children in his home city, and went on to study under Professor E. Poukst at the Minsk College of Music. In 1992 he was accepted to study with Professor V. Kastelsky at the Moscow Conservatoire, graduating in 1997.
He won First Prize at the All Union Competition for Young Artists, the D'Angelo International Piano Competition in Erie, Pennsylvania and at the 1998 International Piano Competition in Oporto. In the summer of 2000 he was awarded Third Prize at the Eighth Géza Anda International Piano Competition in Zürich.
He has played as soloist with the orchestras of Zürich (Tonhalle Orchestra under Lawrence Foster), Winterthur (Stadtorchester under Vladimir Ashkenazy), D'Angelo, Chautauqua, Osaka and Belarus. He has given recitals in Russia, United States of America, Japan, Germany, Italy and Portugal. As a result of his success in the Géza Anda International Piano Competition, there are plans for him to give concerts with the Thuringia Philharmonic in Germany and recitals at Viersen and in Switzerland.
Since 1999, Andrey Shibko has been assistant to Professor Y. Slesarev at the Moscow Conservatoire.
